Swim Night at the Weymouth Club has been POSTPONED due to a scheduling conflict at the Club. A new date will be announced after the January 12th PTAB meeting.

The PTAB is planning activities for the February vacation week. There will be a party at Scalliwags, in Marshfield on Monday, February, 23rd from 10:00a.m. to noon. The cost is $6.95 per child. Adults are free. Lunch may be purchased at Scalliwags.

A Dolly’s party at Gymboree in Norwell. Thursday, Feb 19th from 3:00-4:30 p.m. The cost is $10 per child. There is a limit of twenty children.

You must sign up and pay in advance to go on these activities. A sign up sheet will be on the Parent Bulletin Board.

Treasurer’s report. There is $1,140.07 in the PTAB account. There is also $1,000.00 in the Make-A-Wish Fund. Funds due to Dolly’s: Spanish (Oct,Nov,Dec.) $225.00, $1,250.00 animal week, $592.00 for motor coach to Edaville $625.00 minus $33.00 for ticket difference ($15 charged by us, $14 charged by Edaville), Movie day $174.00 ($450.00 minus $276.00 for tickets).

Holiday Pageant, December 13th at 4:00p.m. Plymouth River school has been confirmed as the site.

Swim Night - Friday, January 23rd 6pm to 8pm - Cost is about $300.00 - Admission depends on cost which includes pizza.

February vacation week family activities.

Several other possibilities were discussed. Monica presented a print out of 10 different activities:

1. Kevin confirmed that we have a reservation at Scalliwags for Monday Feb. 23rd from 10 to noon.

2. The board voted to have a bowling day on Weds. Feb. 18th from 11am to 1:00pm with an hour of bowling followed by pizza from Papa Ginos. The cost will be $8.00 per person. This may be adjusted depending on the cost to rent the Bowling lanes. Sign up would begin after vacation week and payment would be due by January 16th. The limit for this trip is 40 bowlers.

3. The board also voted to have a day at Gymboree. Robin will give Kevin the final date and time.

Kevin will put signs up at Hingham High and on the Dolly’s door reminding parents that the Pageant is at Plymouth River School and not Hingham High School.

The Board put together the baskets for the drawing at the Pageant.

The Board voted to explore an alternate fund-raiser for next fall. Dolly’s is due $75.00 for Spanish classes and $1,250.00 for animal week.

Movie Day - The movie will be Disney’s “Underdog”. Katy suggested putting a sign on the door to attract more kids for the movie.

Edaville RR/Disney On Ice- The board voted to move the date for Edaville Railroad to Sunday, December 7th. The Board voted to hire the motor coach for this trip. The group discounted tickets are $13.00 per person. The full price ticket is $18.00. The Board voted to charge $15.00 per person and put $2.00 towards the cost of the motor coach. The Disney trip will not be an event this year. The Board voted to have two events during the February vacation. One will be a trip on Monday February 23rd to Scalliwags in Marshfield. Jenn is checking into a puppet show on February 15th at the Puppet Showplace theater in Brookline. A trip to Gymboree,bowling, Imagination Island – Plymouth and The Aquarium – Boston are other possibilities.

Kevin will print and distribute a PTAB newsletter to remind families of coming events and the changes in the schedule for Edaville and Disney On Ice.

Kevin showed the cost for Animal Week : BIG RYAN-$125.00, ANIMAL WORLD- $200.00, PONY RIDES $200.00, DOG BUTLER $75.00, FARMER FRED -$150.00, STEPHEN BRENNER $225.00, BLUE HILLS TRAILSIDE MUSEUM -$100.00, SNAKE LADY -$175.00. TOTAL $1,250.00.

Movie Day - The Board approved increasing the price of tickets to $3.00 each/$10.00 max per family. Kevin will get a list of movies and secure Nov. 15th as the day.

Holiday Pageant, December 13th at 2:45p.m. Kevin is waiting to hear from Hingham High School. Katy D. will talk to Plymouth River school about using their hall. Kevin will also check Hull High as a potential back up. Kevin will add a note about the “silent auction” to the Nov. newsletter.

Disney On Ice. The board voted not to get the bus for the trip to Edaville Railroad on Sunday, November 23rd.

The Board voted to hire the bus for Disney On Ice on February 15th at noon. Kevin will secure tickets and the bus. The Board voted to discount the price of the tickets by $2.00 to $25.00/ ticket for the show and put the $3.00 towards the cost of the bus.

Because of the number of events already scheduled, the Board voted to move Gymboree and My Gym days to after the holidays.

Kevin gave an overview of the PTAB’s history and function.

Account Balance. As of 9/17/2008 there is $1,298.77 in Dolly’s account. The Make-A-Wish Fund has $1,000.00 leaving $298.77 to spend from last year.

Kevin reported the Yankee Candle sale is on again this fall, as is the Drawing at the Holiday Pageant, and the Hop-A-Thon.

Animal Week will be from October 6th to 9th. Kevin estimated the cost to be between $500.00 and $700.00.

The Board voted to have Spanish Classes this year. Dolly’s will again split the cost with the Board. ($100.00 each per month). Kevin announced the start of Children’s Yoga classes this fall.

Kevin asked for suggestions for school family activities. The Board voted to hold the following events:

Robin will get a date for a play day at Gymboree in November. This will be geared to the younger children. Caty F. will look into a Spring event at My Gym in Norwell. This event will be geared to include older children.

Dolly’s Day at the Loring Theater - The date will be a Saturday in November. Kevin will get a list of movies from the theater. The cost last Fall was $400.00. The ticket price is $2.00/person $10.00 per family.

Board voted to have motor coach buses for both Edaville Railroad and Disney on Ice in December. Kevin will inquire about tickets/buses.

Kevin will check with a former parent who teaches in Hingham about getting Hingham School Auditorium for the holiday Pageant.

Kevin plans to hold CPR classes this fall. He asked if extra funds were available to held defer the cost of CPR manikins and the Red Cross DVD.

Katy D. asked to start a “Contact parent” program to have a parent from each group be available to help with passing information, organizing play dates, and collecting for teacher gifts etc.

A suggestion was made to move the time up for the Holiday Pageant to 3:45pm.

The next meeting will be October 9th (Thurs.).
